you pay your respects. you send a sympathy card. you owe him nothing. i appreciate that he may need someone to talk to, but that will be your decision. you shouldn't feel like you owe him anything. think about a friend that you used to talk to, but don't really anymore. like a high school friend. what would you do if their mother passed away? probably send a sympathy card or visit the funeral home, or both. that's all you need to do.
